Face masks are a common theme that ties different pieces together, the idea being that all of us to one degree or another participate in “code-switching”, or changing how you speak and interact depending on the kind of person you are around. This has fascinated me for some time, especially when others notice that I do it as well. It can be on the phone, in person, or even writing an email to someone that you’re related to vs. a friend vs. a colleague.
