Crystalline - a show in The Bakery, Atlanta
I have been accepted into another art gallery!
That makes 3 for 2023, and I am beyond thrilled! The Bakery, located in Downtown Atlanta, has accepted my entry into their show “Crystalline” which opens on Friday, May 12, 2023 and goes until the 21st of May.
From The Bakery’s description of the show on their website: “Crystalline is a weeklong exhibition aiming to foster the feelings of an esoteric spring where the sun shines down through the forest, melting away the winter decline. The show will uplift these feelings of rebirth, refinement, and warmth through a lens of iridescent etherealism, think thoughts of how the sun feels on your skin, the scattering of light from a crystal prism, or the sensation of earth underneath your feet.” - TheBakeryAtlanta.com
That’s right up my alley! AND I have several pieces that are in my possession WAITING to be hung in a show! The pieces chosen are “Regrowth 4”, “Texas Sun” and “Alaskan Sun”. These 3 feature skulls, mushrooms, fluorescent and glow-in-the-dark paint, which I think more people need to see if I don’t say so myself.
This image above is “Texas Sun”, which sparked me to paint a bunch of skulls afterwards (some are on smaller canvases in REV Coffee in Smyrna, Georgia for the month of May!) where I really started experimenting more with different colors and using more fluorescent light. I have canvas reprints of this piece as well. Here it is shown under a UV light - see how much it pops???
The above image is “Regrowth 4”, the skull of a deer, which was featured in two different galleries thus far. I have prints of this one as well, one of which is framed in REV with artist embellishments to have the UV and glow-in-the-dark properties that cannot be reproduced by a printer.
“Alaskan Sun” is the skull of a moose - one that I find truly fascinating with the giant antlers and crazy proportions. Like the other two, it glows brilliantly under a blacklight and the mushrooms glow in the dark.
These pieces will be available for viewing at The Bakery from May 12 - 21, 2023.
